Technology transfer is the process of sharing and transferring the knowledge, experience and equipment between such organizations as public or private education and research institutions, government bodies and non-governmental organizations. This transferring process at universities could be defined as services or activities involving the whole commercialisation process of inventions or innovative products developed through scientific researches. One of the most important development strategies of countries, technology transfer is regarded as the factor that will pave the way for knowledge-based economies of the future. Thanks to the diligent efforts of all stakeholders in the ecosystem, awareness raising activities in the field of technology transfer in Turkey are now left behind and more sophisticated talks as smart specialisation are now in the agenda. Attracting interest by researchers and practitioners, technology transfer is a field open to development and improvement due to its interdisciplinary nature and still-developing literature.
Planned and designed both to support to the academic development of tech-trans experts and make a contribution to still-developing literature in the field, the first Technology Transfer Offices Congress in Turkey is going to take place on September 26-28, 2019 hosted by the Technology Transfer Office of Eskişehir Osmangazi University. Being a good example of technology transfer ecosystem in the city and region, this congress is organised through the supports of Anadolu University and Eskişehir Technical University, particularly, and the vast experience of ÜSİMP (Platform for University-Industry Collaboration Centres).
